Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) faculty and staff have once again generously donated over $72,900 right back to the University to support students in this year's #VivaTAMIU Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign, thus marking an impressive, eight percent increase in employee giving over last year.

A total of 406 donors, or an increase of over 12 percent in participants compared to last year, gave to the annual Campaign, conducted from Aug. 16 - Oct. 4. The #VivaTAMIU Faculty & Staff Challenge celebrates and encourages giving from within. Over the years, TAMIU employees have donated over $1,325,000 to support the needs of TAMIU students.

Rosanne Palacios, TAMIU vice president of Institutional Advancement, explained that the #VivaTAMIU Campaign is an annual drive. Through friendly competition, TAMIU challenges every colleague from every office and department to strive for 100 percent participation by having all team members make a gift.

"We are grateful to all the TAMIU employees who participated in this year's #Viva TAMIU Campaign," Palacios said, "Once again, faculty and staff have shown how much they care for our students and how they ‘Go Beyond’ by giving to various areas of need that they feel most passionate about."

She continued, "The wonderful part about #VivaTAMIU is that participants can choose to give to whatever area they care most about. Funds support the needs of our students, be it scholarships, books, specific projects and programs, travel or even a hot meal."

University-wide participation has been impressive, Palacios noted.

"We are particularly excited that every department had at least one participant and that 17 TAMIU departments participated at 100% in the Campaign. TAMIU Colleges and Schools increased their overall participation by 11 percent this year," Palacios said, "Most notably, we had a participation rate of 61% as compared to 57% last year."

To celebrate this momentous occasion of giving and to thank TAMIU employee donors for their generous contributions, all full-time donors were recently invited to attend a #VivaTAMIU Fiesta in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library's Helen Richter Watson Gallery.
