If you’re planning to be a student this Fall at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a Saturday Open House and Welcome Day can help you complete any unfinished business before the semester begins.

A broad range of University services for potential and returning students will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center (ZSC). This free event helps students and their families finalize their plans for Fall with a one-stop shop experience.

Dubbed “Unfinished Business: A TAMIU Open House and Welcome Day,” students can register for classes and meet with other offices, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Testing and Student Health. Representatives from University Colleges and Schools will also be present.

Organizers say it’s designed to help students be ready on Day One of the Fall semester, with little or no stress.

“We encourage all to take advantage of these events to help students get answers for any remaining concerns, complete their registration process and finalize their schedule so that their Fall Day One experience is as stress-free as possible,” said Juan Gilberto García, interim vice president for Student Success, “This also helps students secure a preferred class schedule and avoid a last-minute rush to resolve matters before registration ends.”

García said the University is proud of its commitment to accessibility and affordability and keeping costs down for enrolling students and their families.

“As announced by our Texas A&M University System’s Board of Regents, there will be no tuition increase at TAMIU.  The Board is focused on ‘making a college education affordable for all Texans,’ ” García explained.

Other assistance programs are now available to help students who want to resume their degree pursuit, he noted.

“Additional undergraduate and graduate student support programs, part of our #Comeback Programs for resuming students, are also available.  Funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, these grants provide scholarships and repayment of previous semester balances.  All are designed to help students complete their undergraduate or graduate degrees,” he concluded.

Expanded Summer hours for Student Success offices can further help students and their families and are as follows:  Monday, Tuesday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   For additional event information, visit tamiu.eventbrite.com, email: enroll@tamiu.edu or call 956.326.2270.
