Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students will have an opportunity to learn about the craft of acting in a special workshop series conducted by Artist in Residence and actor, Rogelio T. Ramos Gomez-Rejón.

Ramos is a film, television, and voice actor whose career in Hollywood spans almost two decades. He’s starred in blockbuster films like Spider-Man 3, Sex and The City The Movie, and TV shows including Silicon Valley, Hawaii 5-O and Dynasty.

His workshops for students at TAMIU will be Tuesday, Nov. 8; Tuesday, Nov. 15, and conclude Thursday, Nov. 17. THESE WORKSHOPS HAVE BEEN POSTPONED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

Dr. Gilberto Martínez, Jr., TAMIU instructional associate professor of Theatre and Communication, said TAMIU students have a rare opportunity to explore the full spectrum of acting by a professional who enjoys a multi-faceted career.

“He started his career in radio at 16 and was one of the youngest TV news anchors at 20. He attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in California, and has studied the Strasberg and Meisner acting methods. He’s served as brand spokesperson for national and international advertising campaigns, and his voice has brought life to characters in video games and animation series. He is an experienced acting coach who offers these seminars to help aspiring actors envision their careers.  Our students will truly have a primary opportunity to explore all that acting is… and how a career might be achieved,” Dr. Martinez explained.

Ramos is also a nephew to acclaimed film director Alfonso Gomez-Rejón.

The Artist in Residence program at TAMIU is made possible by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean, Dr. Claudia San Miguel with funding support from the Sam Johnson Endowment for Theatre.  Additional Artist in Residence Programs at TAMIU are planned.
