Laredo Theater Guild International (LTGI), in cooperation with Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), continues its new production of Frankenstein with performances through Sunday, Oct. 15 in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Theatre.

The remaining performances are scheduled for October 12- October 14 at 7:30 p.m. (Thursday - Saturday) and at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15. Tickets are available online at www.laredotheaterguild.org. or at the door.

Directed by Marco Gonzalez and produced by Linda L. Howland, LTGI’s Frankenstein features nationally recognized slam poet Chibbi Orduña as the Creature, local attorney Oscar O. Peña as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Lisa Martinez as Elizabeth.

The play is Nick Dear’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s gothic novel that retells the well-known story from the point of view of the Creature.

Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein's bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, is determined to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development, and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.

Frankenstein premiered at London’s National Theatre in February 2011.

This production of Frankenstein is also LTGI’s 2023 Class on Stage® offering.  LTGI has hosted special morning performances of these Class on Stage® productions free of charge for high school students and their chaperones. Additionally, all students, including TAMIU students are admitted free of charge to regular evening performances as long as they have a valid student ID.
