Holiday Season Celebrated at TAMIU

Christmas Tree

A series of festive, holiday-themed events have brought the holiday spirit to Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).

The holiday season's final musical performance by students was Friday, Dec. 1 with the presentation of the 22nd annual Guitarras de Navidad Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, TAMIU hosted its popular annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Front Lawn. The event’s festivities included elementary and middle school musical performances, festive holiday treats, games, photo locations, and a holiday market. The first 100 children in attendance received a Santa hat.

The annual celebration was free and open to the public. The public is encouraged to visit campus throughout the holidays to view the lighted trees and decorations located across the campus.

Several holiday-inspired shows are also playing at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium.

These showings are offered with an admission cost, and are as follows

  • Family Matinee: Let it Snow – Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Season of Light – Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Mystery of the Christmas Star – Friday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Let It Snow – Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.
  • Winter Constellations – Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
