TAMIU SBDC Offers Small Business Management Program for Future Business Owners

Starting Tuesday, October 8, Texas A&M International University’s Small Business Development Center (TAMIU SBDC) will offer a distinctive program for entrepreneurs who want to start, expand, or improve their business.
The Small Business Management Program (SBMP) is a hybrid classroom learning delivered by professionals, including attorneys, accountants, marketing specialists, and certified business consultants. It features 10 courses designed to help business owners network, learn about relevant management issues, and define their company’s priorities.
Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Seating is limited. The registration deadline for the upcoming cohort is Wednesday, October 1. Upon completing the program, participants receive a certificate and take part in a graduation ceremony.
Course topics include managing cash flow, small business tax duties, simplifying the hiring process, human resources and policies, legal issues for entrepreneurs, marketing basics, anatomy of a business plan, and building personal and business financial plans.
Norma Rodríguez, TAMIU SBDC director, said participants will expand career potential while learning numerous tools designed to help individuals improve the effectiveness of their business operations and achieve their goals.
“Becoming a successful business owner means learning new things,” Rodríguez said, “Ultimately, it helps your business grow and stay successful by keeping you competitive, helping you deal with challenges, coming up with new ideas, and making smart choices. TAMIU SBDC’s Certified Business Advisors will provide one-on-one professional advising to assist attendees with the startup or expansion process of their new or existing business.”
