TAMIU SBDC Recognizes 42 Small Business Management Program Graduates at Ceremony

A total of 42 entrepreneurs were recently honored for completing the Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center’s (TAMIU SBDC) Small Business Management Program.
The graduates received certificates of completion in recognition of their dedication and achievement.
TAMIU and SBDC representatives opened the ceremony with remarks celebrating the graduates' accomplishments and outlining TAMIU resources available to them. The program also featured guest speakers who provided important insights for those entering the world of business.

Martínez, Gerardo Martínez, Roberto Melendez, Gabriella Mendoza, Oscar Plascencia, Roberto Puig, Alicia Ramos Duarte, Ricardo Reyes, María Rincon, Hilda Rodríguez, Denise Rogerio, Olga Margarita Romero, Fernando Ruvalcaba, Alberto Salazar, Diana Salazar, Paula Sandoval, Christian G. Nydia Robles, executive director of Laredo Main Street, encouraged graduates to contribute to the city’s ongoing economic development through their entrepreneurial endeavors.
Jaime Landa, a Laredo-born entrepreneur, shared his journey from starting a business with no prior experience to successfully founding five companies, including ATEX, ATEX RENTALS, ATEX FIBER, and ATEX CARRIERS. Landa discussed the importance of discipline, adaptability, and long-term vision and commitment in creating business success.
Instructors who have guided the program since its inception also spoke of graduates' commitment to their professional growth. The instructors, who represent a variety of fields such as law, marketing, accounting, and business consulting, continue to play an integral role in shaping the program. Notable contributors include professionals from Whitworth Cigarroa Attorney at Law, Primerica, Madison Avenue, JP&A Tax Services, and Jesús Edgardo Rodríguez CPA PLLC.
Norma Rodríguez, SBDC director, emphasized the importance of continuous learning for business owners.
“As a business owner, it’s important to find new ways to generate revenue,” Rodríguez said, “No matter where you are in your professional life, information is power, and it can help you grow. Online courses, podcasts, YouTube videos, e-books, blogs, and services like the SBDC have made education more convenient and accessible than ever.”
