TAMIU Adds Tutor.com to Student Support Services

Imagine this. It’s late at night and you’re a Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) student and your Calculus homework is just not making any sense. But it’s 11 p.m. and the assignment is due tomorrow morning...If only you had been able to squeeze in some time for a tutoring session.
But this Fall, TAMIU launched its 24/7 on demand, one-to-one tutoring support for all students with a new resource, tutor.com. Those calculus problems are on their way to being solved.
Belinda Medina, director of TAMIU’s Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), said the availability of tutor.com at TAMIU extends the University’s student support, can be a game-changer for them, and is offered at no charge.
“Imagine being stuck on a problem, struggling with a translation, or really wanting someone to review your paper before you turn it in...the tutor.com service is easy to use and can be accessed on any Internet-connected device, around the clock. Tutor.com provides our students with an easily accessible supplement to on-campus tutoring services through a platform and schedule that’s easily accessible,” Medina said.
“Our currently enrolled students can connect one-on-one with over 4,000 highly-qualified tutors in all disciplines and a wide range of 250+ subjects, can review recordings of previous sessions, drop off an essay for review and feedback, save their favorite tutors, and see their availability schedule,” she noted.
Medina offered an overview of other capabilities offered by tutor.com at TAMIU.
“There are text, voice, and video options, and tutoring occurs in a collaborative online classroom with a range of interfaces and learning tools, as well as predictive insights that can provide students with just-in-time support vital to learning success. There are also self-paced resources including MCAT®, LSAT®, GRE®, GMAT®, and NCLEX-RN® prep from The Princeton Review,” Medina explained.
She said the tutor.com addition to TAMIU resources affirms the University’s commitment to being Accessible, Affordable, and Exceptional.
“While it powerfully underscores that commitment, it also extends it through services that help students to pass, persist, and graduate,” she concluded.
TAMIU students currently enrolled in a course can access tutor.com via Blackboard, the University’s learning management system, and create their own account.
