‘College Nights’ Offered Tuesdays at City of Laredo Tennis Complex at TAMIU

Students at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) have a new, free social and fitness outlet every Tuesday night at the City of Laredo Tennis Complex at TAMIU.
“College Night” is offered from 7 – 8:45 p.m. every Tuesday at the Tennis Complex for currently enrolled students thanks to a partnership between TAMIU’s Rec Sports and the Tennis Complex.
Jaime Donjuan, director of Tennis Facility Operations said the new offering, launched with the start of the Fall Semester, has proven popular with students.
“It’s a great social opportunity for our students and we’ve had strong numbers of participants enjoying themselves. Students just have to show up, no need to reserve a court, and we do have racquets and tennis balls they can use. Our goal is to continue to offer College Nights year-round,” Donjuan said.
He noted there are also other new events planned.
“We’ll be starting a new event called Red Ball soon. This is a slower ball that benefits anyone learning tennis for the first time,” he said.
Also on the horizon, the Laredo Tennis Association (LTA), a partner in the Tennis Complex’s development, will host Tennis, TAMIU & Tacos on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. with limited free spots available for new and experienced adult players who can pre-register at: https://form.jotform.com/252408584841159
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) recently announced that the 18-court City of Laredo Tennis Complex at TAMIU was one of 45 winners in the USTA’s annual Outstanding Facility Awards program recognizing excellence in the construction or renovation of tennis facilities throughout the country.
