Webb County Honors TAMIU’s MPA Program with Silver Jubilee Anniversary Proclamation

The Webb County Commissioners’ Court presented a proclamation October 14, 2025 recognizing the 25th Anniversary of Texas A&M International University's (TAMIU) Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program.
The proclamation, signed by County Judge Tano E. Tijerina and Commissioners Jesse González, Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina, John Galo, and Ricardo Jaime, designated October 2025 as the month to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the TAMIU MPA Program.
The Court recognized the Program for its more than 25 years of excellence in educating and preparing leaders for careers in public service. The proclamation underscored the program’s impact in developing graduates with expertise in communication, ethics, policy analysis, public governance and management, as well as its continued contributions to local, state, and national government and nonprofit organizations.
Following the presentation, TAMIU President Dr. Christopher Maynard thanked the Commissioners’ Court for honoring the Program and commended the dedication of its alumni, faculty, and students.
“Our MPA Program has prepared and empowered leaders committed to public service for more than 25 years,” Dr. Maynard said, “What began as a traditional, in-person program serving Webb County has grown into a fully online program that reaches students across Texas and the nation. Our graduates continue to strengthen our cities, counties, and communities through their service in government and nonprofit organizations.”
Maynard also noted the program’s continued evolution and lasting impact.
“We commemorate the program’s impact and the contributions of its alumni as we celebrate this Silver Jubilee,” he said, “We look forward to continuing to educate and prepare the next generation of public servants who will lead with dedication, integrity, and purpose.”
Established in 1999, TAMIU’s MPA Program has produced over 250 graduates who have gone on to leadership roles in education, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and policy development.
