Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Banking Academy students participated in the recent Texas Bankers Association (TBA) Annual Convention, joining banking professionals, educators and industry leaders from across the state.

The annual convention, held May 20-22 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, brought together representatives from the banking industry to discuss trends shaping the future of finance while providing opportunities for professional development, networking and industry engagement.

Leading TAMIU representation at the Convention were Dr. Luis Perez-Batres, dean of the A.R. Sanchez Jr. School of Business, and Leonela Preciado, Banking Academy program manager, who attended the University Symposium. The Symposium convened higher education leaders to explore innovative approaches to banking education and highlighted professional development opportunities focused on artificial intelligence as well as strategies implemented by university banking programs across Texas.

Banking Academy students participated in the Convention’s annual community service initiative at the Humane Society of Dallas. Their volunteer activities included writing thank-you letters, cleaning facilities, assisting staff and spending time caring for and socializing animals in need.

Students also attended educational sessions focused on the growth and evolution of the financial sector over the past decade. In addition, they connected with bankers from across Texas who shared guidance and mentorship as students prepare to enter the workforce.

TAMIU Banking Academy student participants included Ximena Gonzalez, David Martinez, Emiliano Fiscal and Agustin Davila.

The Banking Academy continues to provide opportunities for students to engage with banking professionals and gain exposure to the financial services industry through participation in statewide events and professional development experiences.

Participation in the Texas Bankers Association Annual Convention was made possible thanks to support from Banking Academy donors.
