Export Control (EC)

What is export control? Export control is the set of U.S. laws that regulate the distribution to foreign nationals and foreign countries of strategically important technology, services, and information for reasons of foreign policy and national security. Since some grants and research activities include exports, the Office of Research & Sponsored Projects provides links to relevant information about export control and how it affects academic research.

Travel to Extreme Risk Countries

At Texas A&M International University, we recognize that travel is essential in education, research, and global engagement. As international travel becomes more common, we must balance these opportunities with the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Due to ongoing global tensions, the Texas A&M University System restricts non-essential travel to countries or regions identified as extreme risk. Before making travel plans, all members of the TAMIU community must carefully evaluate whether the trip is essential to the university’s mission. TAMUS Extreme Risk Countries includes a current list of extreme risk areas.

In addition, under Executive Order GA-48 by the Governor of the State of Texas, all System employees who plan to travel for personal reasons to a country identified as a foreign adversary must complete a Certification of Personal Travel to a Foreign-Adversary form in Workday. Professional activities within countries identified as foreign adversaries are strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.

System employees are prohibited from entering into High Risk Global Engagements and participating in High Risk International Collaborations with entities on the most recent list developed pursuant to Section 1286 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (Public Law 115-232) as amended.
