Reading the Globe

In celebration of our 15th anniversary, we’re calling on past Reading the Globe ambassadors to recollect their life-changing travel experiences. Send us your video testimonial on how Reading the Globe impacted your life. Chosen testimonials will be featured on our website and our social media channels.

Here are a series of questions we would like you to answer regarding your Reading the Globe experience. Please follow our recording guidelines. These videos will be distributed via our social media channels during the Fall 2023 semester, which includes usage on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and our University’s website.

Questions

1. Where did your Reading the Globe Book take you? (You can provide the book title and destination)
2. What was the single most vivid memory you have of your experience? (You can isolate one element of the many).
3. How has your Reading the Globe experience impacted your life since? (You can talk about how your horizons expanded, how you became more aware of other cultures, how you appreciate diversity, how it might have affected your profession, etc.)
4. What would be your advice to someone thinking about Reading the Globe @ TAMIU? (Basically encouraging them to participate, etc.)

Recording Instructions

• Videos can be recorded using your smartphone (mobile device). Please record one clip per question for a total four, distinct clips. Each clip should be at maximum, 30 seconds-long.
• Record your submission in a quiet location and please ensure no music is being played in the background, as this can trigger copyright infringement when we upload videos to social media.
• We recommend that these videos be recorded horizontally.
• Please record your videos at eye-level, and not above/below eye level.
• If possible, use a tripod or kickstand to help prop up your phone. This will help you from holding your phone in your hand for the duration of the recording and reduce shakiness.
• Record your videos in a well-lit area and avoid recording in dark rooms/areas.
• Fill out the form details on this page or email your individual clips to socialmedia@tamiu.edu with your name in the Subject Line and Reading the Globe destination. These can be sent by emailing us a WeTransfer or Google Drive link to your videos. Both WeTransfer and Google Drive offer free, file sharing options that allow content creators to download uncompressed, optimized videos.

Optional Steps

• Send us your @Instagram handle so that we can tag you when your video is distributed on IG. Please reshare these videos to your own social media profiles.
• Please email up five photos from your Reading the Globe Experience for us to share on social media.
