Orlando Navarro dropped out of college during his sophomore year. After two years working with family in construction, he finished his college education. This was a hard-learned lesson for the son of a Mexican immigrant father and a mother whose own family had emigrated from Nicaragua. Their struggle to make a better life for themselves has inspired Navarro in his own endeavors. After spending two years studying and playing baseball at Tarkio College in Missouri, Navarro returned to Laredo and received his degree in 1994. Since then, he has built his career in real estate. He is now active in many Laredo organizations, and serves as a member of the TAMIU Alumni Association. |
