ACCREDITATION
WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?
The goal of accreditation is to ensure that institutions of higher education provide a quality education. Accreditation provides an important recognition that an institution maintains standards required for its graduates to gain admission to other reputable institutions of higher learning and to achieve credentials for professional practice. Universities must be accredited in order to receive certain federal and state funds. Federal financial aid is only available to eligible students at accredited institutions.
SACSCOC Regional Accreditation
Texas A&M International University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. It recognizes the value of information provided by students, employees, and others in determining whether an institution’s performance is consistent with the Commission’s standards for obtaining or maintaining accreditation.
SACSCOC works to ensure that member institutions maintain appropriate grievance procedures and standards of procedural fairness and that the procedures are applied appropriately and consistently. To file a complaint please submit a Complaint Form.
Professional Accreditation

- Master of Public Administration Program: Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) since 2013.
- Accredited by the State Board of Educator Certification.
