*All students take the University Writing Assessment after completion of ENGL 1301 and 1302. This exam consists of writing an argumentative essay. Students who do not pass the University Writing Assessment on their first attempt may retest after passing a sophomore literature class as stipulated in their degree plan. Those who do not pass the University Writing Assessment on the second try must take an additional sophomore literature class. For further information, see page 13 or contact the Office of Programs for Academic Support and Enrichment (PASE).
