| Number Theory I | 
| Three semester hours. | 
| This is a basic course in number theory which introduces algebraic number theory as well as the analytic methods. Topics include: Number fields, algebraic integers, ideals and units, ideal class groups, ramification theory, quadratic and cyclotomic fields, zeta-functions and L-series. Prerequisite: MATH 3310, MATH 4310, MATH 4315 (desirable), MATH 4345 (desirable) or equivalent courses. |
