ENGL 3361

The Teaching of Composition

Three semester hours. (FA)

This course provides an overview of modern composition theory that informs the teaching of writing in secondary and post-secondary education. This course incorporates a practicum where participants create writing assignments that aim to improve the writing process and products of adults and young adult writers. Participants will write essays based on the assignments they propose and will experiment with a number of approaches to teaching the writing process. Required for 7-12 Certification. Prerequisite: Three hours sophomore English or consent of instructor.
