Walkers and runners alike are invited to participate in Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) first-ever Dustdevil Virtual 5K, now underway through Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Dustdevil Virtual 5K is open to the public. Registration is available at https://go.tamiu.edu/virtual-5K-signup. The event began Sunday, Sept. 6.

Participants are encouraged to jog, run, or walk on a trail, road, or treadmill and should follow social distancing guidelines at all times.

Organized through TAMIU’s Recreational Sports, individuals between the ages of 8 to 80 and over can participate. All participants are required to sign a consent waiver.

To keep track of each individual’s run or walk times and distances, individuals should turn in documentation tracking their progress. This includes taking a photo or screenshot of progress made through a fitness tracking device or app. Participants will receive additional instructions on submitting their fitness tracking information upon successfully registering for the Dustdevil Virtual 5K.

For more information on the upcoming Dustdevil 5K, contact Xcaret Ramírez, TAMIU Recreational Sports specialist, at xcaret.ramirez@tamiu.edu.

The University’s online COVID-19 Response Center is updated regularly and includes an expansive FAQ, quick links, student resources, official information resources and much more.
