City of Laredo Recognizes Partners of The Big Event 2026 at May City Council Meeting

The City of Laredo recognized the collaborative partners and volunteers behind The Big Event 2026 during a City Council meeting held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the City Hall Chambers.
The Big Event 2026, which took place on March 28, brought together students, organizations, and community members for a citywide day of service dedicated to enhancing public spaces, supporting community initiatives, and strengthening civic pride across Laredo.
During the recognition, the City of Laredo acknowledged the collective efforts of Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), Laredo College, South Texas Food Bank, the Student Government Association Leaders Organizing Volunteer Events (L.O.V.E.) Committee, the National Society of Leadership and Success, H-E-B, Laredo Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability, Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center, and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.
The recognition highlighted the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions, local organizations, and community partners in creating meaningful and lasting change, affirmed Priscilla Cadena, TAMIU Office of Student Affairs program manager.
“These partnerships, along with the dedication of hundreds of volunteers, contributed to impactful community projects that promoted economic empowerment and improved the overall quality of life for residents throughout the city,” said Cadena.
