Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Office of Public Relations, Marketing and Information Services (PRMIS) has earned nine national awards in the recent 8th Annual Educational Digital Marketing Awards  competition -- placing it among top peer national winners.

The Education Digital Marketing Award competition recognizes the best in educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media and social media.  A national panel of industry specialists reviews and judges the competition, considering creativity, marketing execution, message impact, technology application and content innovation.

There were 37 entry categories and 14 different educational groups competing. TAMIU’s nine awards elevated it into the top national winners group including Arkansas Tech University, University of Nebraska-Omaha; Syracuse University; University of Missouri and  the University of California, Davis. Of the five Texas public and private universities competing, TAMIU was the top Texas award recipient.

TAMIU earned Gold awards for new media content supporting social media campaigns; for its main website update; for a dedicated website explainer on TAMIUFlex, the University’s course delivery platform, and for a stand-alone website for the University’s Dustdevil Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

TAMIU’s Silver awards included a Social Media Campaign showcasing pet “Study Buddies;” digital content tracing the University’s brand identity evolution; a video documentary for the “We Are TAMIU Together” campaign, and for website content and design for the University’s dedicated COVID-19 Response Center.  A special Merit Award was presented for a digital video sharing the University’s 50th Anniversary theme and celebration.

TAMIU’s PRMIS director Steve Harmon said the Awards are a testament to PRMIS’ strong creativity, drive, passion and teamwork.

The creativity, drive and passion of our entire PRMIS staff is inspired by our campus and the leadership of our president, Dr. Pablo Arenaz.  The PRMIS team is incredibly bright, dedicated and energetic in advancing the University’s mission and story across multiple platforms.  They are focused on finding engaging, innovative and strategic ways to tell TAMIU’s ever-expanding story. They help drive multiple initiatives focused on engagement, recruitment, retention, and  community perception.  This past Pandemic-dominated year has been especially challenging for TAMIU and all universities, but we strive to deliver our essential mission daily,” Harmon said.

The PRMIS team includes Mika Akikuni, associate director of marketing; Laura Bogue, former administrative associate; Ana P. Clamont, design and brand manager; Rory King, director of web; Ana M. Vargas, associate director of web; Christine Rojas,  social media manager; Rolando Santos, photographer and videographer; Andrea Martínez, designer, and Edelmiro Santos, web specialist.
