On  April 14 - 15, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) was part of a powerful new partnership providing students and alumni across the nation with an exciting opportunity to virtually engage with representatives from 100+ companies and learn about future career opportunities.

TAMIU joined 13 of the nation’s leading Hispanic Serving Institution (HSIs)  for the  HSI Career Collaborative Summit via Zoom and powered by Handshake.  TAMIU’s director of Career Services, Yelitza Howard said the first-ever initiative was rich with opportunity.

“TAMIU was honored to participate in the HSI Career Collaborative and partner with schools across the U.S. to bring our students and alumni opportunities to connect virtually with employers.  This dynamic initiative was perfectly linked with our service and outreach mission to all students and graduates that’s predicated on helping them to  realize their absolute career and  professional potential,” Howard said.

Event attendees, students and alumni from across the nation, had the potential to  network with several company representatives to learn about career opportunities at Airbnb, Autodesk, AstraZeneca, CVS Health, Dell Technologies, Deloitte, Kohl’s, Microsoft, PwC, Target, Toyota, Walmart, and many more.

“The two-day event featured a keynote address by Leo Cortez, Head of University Recruiting and Diversity Talent at Airbnb; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.  It was followed by two professional development sessions focused on defining the future of diversity in the workplace and strengthening a student’s brand.  Our students and alumni enjoyed a remarkable opportunity to grow their career and professional profile,”  Howard noted.

Fellow HSI universities joiningTAMIU for the Summit included: California State University-Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills, Fresno, San Bernardino and Stanislaus campuses; Florida International University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, The University of Texas-San Antonio, University of California-Merced and University of the Incarnate Word.
