TAMIU also ranked #24 among the Top 60 International Business Schools and College Programs in the nation. Read here for a full list of rankings.

For both rankings, University HQ states that it uses the most reliable sources available, including government sources. Ranking factors include retention rate, graduation rate, admission rate, cost of tuition, graduating salary, number of programs offered, online program offered, loan default rate, diplomas awarded and percent of students receiving financial aid. Visit here for a full explanation of University HQ's methodology.

On Criminal Justice degree programs, University HQ states, "Well-designed undergraduate criminal justice programs expose their students to the theories and practice of criminal justice. They also offer students opportunities to practice what they are learning."

The site also states, "Students majoring in criminal justice may be required to choose an internship in the community or simply to complete a shadowing experience so that they can get a feel for a criminal justice job and what that may look like. Luckily, many of these students are also able to compete for scholarships and grants designed for those who are majoring in criminal justice. But even those who cannot find scholarships can choose to attend a school that won’t empty their wallet."

On Best Most Affordable Business Administration Colleges, the site states, "When we research and rank the top, most affordable business degree programs we strive to use the best possible data points from the best sources. Thus, we rely on the data reported by the U.S. Department of education, which is the most objective source."

Figures such as retention rate and the cost of tuition, room and board are also evaluated when determining the Best Most Affordable Business Administration Colleges, the site states.

About Business degree programs, the site states, "Studying business can give individuals the freedom to pursue some of the most flexible and fulfilling careers. Unlike certain career paths that are narrowly defined, business careers are present in every industry and cover many departments spanning operations, logistics, finance, accounting, human resources, marketing, and advertising."

The site continues, "As such, students with varied interests, who are looking for a career that can both allow them to explore deeper into a functional area and industry while maintaining the flexibility to transfer to a different department later on, will tend to gravitate towards studying business."

The site concludes, "Additionally, business is a career path that values interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership, and business school curricula are tailored toward training students to build and acquire these skills. Given the applied nature of business degrees and the transferable skills that are afforded by this type of educational pathway, many employers look to hire students with a business background. This means that pursuing a business degree is oftentimes a good return on investment."

Dr. Sean Maddan, associate professor of and chair of the TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Social Sciences, said the recognition is merited.

"It is fantastic for TAMIU’s criminal justice program to be recognized in providing high quality education at affordable cost to our students," Dr. Maddan said, "As also indicated by the ranking, the low cost of the program is even more impressive given TAMIU’s retention and graduation rates which top the vast majority of schools on the list."

Dr. Steve Sears, dean of the TAMIU A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, said that the Sanchez School of Business is honored to receive the accolades.

"On behalf of the faculty and staff of the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, we are honored to be included in the latest rankings of the top 100 affordable business schools as ranked by the HQ University rankings," Dr. Sears said, "We take pride in the low tuition costs our programs, the high retention rate and strong graduation rate of our students. We feel that our business programs are very affordable and offer a quality education with value to our students, who are largely Hispanic."
