As students prepare for a vibrant, face to face, return to campus experience this Fall at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), transfer students are encouraged to register now and find their path at their hometown University.

Offering 90+ degree programs, TAMIU provides a dynamic learning environment that embraces students' academic growth. TAMIU Fall 2021 Late Registration ends Friday, Aug. 27, 2021.

Transfer students have the distinct opportunity to be considered for Transfer Student Merit Scholarships, explained Laura Elizondo, TAMIU Financial Aid director.

"TAMIU's automatic transfer merit  scholarships are  awarded to students transferring to TAMIU in the Fall or Spring semesters," she said, "These scholarships, the Presidential Transfer Award and the Achievement Transfer Award, are automatically awarded upon admissions to the university to qualified students meeting their criteria."

To be eligible for the Presidential Transfer Award, a student must transfer with 45+ applicable credit hours, but no more than 90 transfer credit hours and a 3.75+ GPA. For the Achievement Award, students must transfer with 45+ applicable credit hours, but no more than 90 transfer credit hours and with a 3.50+ GPA, Elizondo said.

Transfer students also have the option to apply for TAMIU's General Scholarship. The Scholarship closes on July 31, Elizondo said.

Transfer students can also apply for Financial Aid and a list of additional scholarships listed here:  https://www.tamiu.edu/finaid/scholarships.shtml

Additionally, this Fall, TAMIU students seeking a degree will be the lucky beneficiaries of a pilot program, TAMIU Books IncludED, providing all TAMIU required textbooks and course materials free of charge.

TAMIU Books IncludED delivers course materials to students in multiple formats, including E-book (digital), open educational resources, and print.  Students who opt not to receive free digital textbook and course materials will be able to purchase physical materials.

"TAMIU opens an impressive gamut of opportunities to students, including research under the guidance of gifted faculty, over 100 student clubs and organizations, an engaging arts and culture scene through its Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, as well as athletics and  recreational sports activities so that they can experience a full University life while they pursue their degrees," said Jessica Treviño, TAMIU Recruitment director, "The time is now for students to transfer to TAMIU and find their path forward at the University’s 300-acre campus in Laredo."

Transfer students or students with over 24 college credit hours, who have previously attended an accredited institution and are seeking admission to TAMIU must submit their ApplyTexas application. There is no application fee and no personal statement or essay are required.

Applicants must also submit an official transcript from any and all college or university attended and demonstrate a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

Applicants who have earned a high school diploma and have less than 24 college credit hours are considered Transfer Freshmen applicants.

Transfer Freshman applicants must submit an Apply Texas application. No application, personal statement or essay are required.

They must also submit an official high school transcript and their ACT and or SAT scores, if applicable. Admissions score minimums are based according to class rank.

In addition, applicants must also submit an official transcript from any and all colleges and universities attended and demonstrate a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

Once admitted, students must schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor for class registration and degree audits. Schedule an appointment at tamiu.as.me

"We look forward to welcoming transfer students to TAMIU this Fall and encourage students who wish to become better acquainted with our campus to schedule a campus tour now," Treviño said.
