The Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Office of Continuing Education will offer the Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Institute (APSI) on campus Tuesday, July 25 through Friday, July 28, 2023, in partnership with the College Board.

Held nationwide at over 160 partner colleges and universities, AP Summer Institutes offer the most thorough professional learning available for AP educators. Attendees engage in over 30 hours of content-rich training designed to strengthen how they teach their AP courses.

“We are proud to once again be a host site for the AP Summer Institute because it arms AP educators with the latest tools and strategies to take back to their learning communities,” said Susan Foster, TAMIU director of Continuing Education, “The global institutional network is also a remarkable resource for developing relationships and best practices.  We are excited to offer the new AP Pre-calculus session as well as AP US History, AP English Literature and AP English Language -- all in face-to-face instruction here at TAMIU.”

Registration and additional information is available online here:  https://www.tamiu.edu/ce/ap-institute.shtml

AP Head of the AP Program Trevor Packer said APSI benefits teachers and their students. “For over 30 years, APSI has provided dedicated AP teachers with intense training and educational collaboration. APSI helps to ensure that students will receive the challenging instruction they need to prepare for college success,” Packer explained.

Research shows that AP students are better prepared for college. They are more likely to enroll in college, stay in college, do well in their classes, and graduate on time in four years. Following challenging coursework, success on AP Exams helps students save money on college tuition and potentially graduate with less student debt over the course of their education.
