Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students had an opportunity to connect to criminal justice career employment opportunities with top local, non-profit, state, and federal agencies at the Criminal Justice (CJ) Career Expo April 22, 2025.

The event was hosted by TAMIU’s College of Arts and Sciences, department of Social Sciences and designed to serve both CJ and non-CJ students, offering unique insights into career paths within the criminal justice system.

CJ Career Expo organizer Dr. Brittany Hood, TAMIU assistant professor of CJ, said the Expo provided students with powerful opportunities.

“This career expo not only aids in professional development but also enhances understanding of the dynamic nature of criminal justice careers. It was an invaluable opportunity for students to make professional connections and explore numerous facets of the criminal justice field,” Dr. Hood said.

Over 25 leading employers and agencies were on-site to discuss potential job and internship opportunities, conduct on-the-spot interviews, and network with the future leaders in criminal justice.

CJ Career Expo highlights included:

  • Workshops: Tailored to enhance resume writing, USAjobs.gov application processes, and elevator pitches.
  • Panel Discussions and Research Presentations: Peers and professionals provided insight into advancements and real-world applications in criminal justice.
  • Networking Opportunities: Potential employers shared diverse roles available within the CJ system.

Students also attended pre-career fair workshops on topics including resume building for CJ students, perfecting elevator pitches for CJ employers, applying for federal jobs, and graduate school insights, among others.

The workshops were followed by the Career Fair featuring 25+ employers.

The event was free of charge and open to all TAMIU students and included refreshments and giveaways.
