TAMIU Social Post Sets Historic Viral Benchmark with 3M+ Views

“We’ve gone viral.”

That phrase can signal pride or fear for any entity as it refers to a social media post that has generated an uncommonly high number of views.

Fortunately, sharing good news has helped to drive an historic viral benchmark for Texas A&M International University (TAMIU. 

An Instagram post on the main txamiu Instagram account has become the University’s first-ever viral post, racking up an impressive 3,044,352 (and counting) views. The innovative post paired May’s traditional Diploma Party with a look back at the highly ornamented graduation caps that provide an always-engaging visual highlight at TAMIU’s Commencement Exercises.

On June 10, the published content received an additional major boost after being reposted by  Pubity, a highly influential media outlet known for its viral content and global online presence. Pubity’s repost, which included an account tag, amassed  758,686 likes and  3,548 shares in less than 48 hours, significantly amplifying TAMIU’s visibility and reach.

This amplification stacked directly on top of the existing momentum from TAMIU’s original viral post, which has now reached:  Views: 3,044,352 ; Likes: 273,780, and Interactions: 335,325 total instances.

Importantly, both the Pubity repost, and TAMIU’s original content continue to attract engagement from outside the University community, drawing views, likes, and follows from individuals across the country and globe. 

The social media coup was led by the award-winning TAMIU Office of Public Relations, Marketing, and Information Services’ social media team of  Christine Rojas, Manager, Social Media and Communications, and  Joey Hernández, Communication Specialist I.

Rojas offered some context on the impactful and record-breaking post.

“For background context, in the past three years, TAMIU has acquired some 2 - 4 million views on Instagram per year, on average. This viral post provided over two million views in a single week . This heightened visibility has expanded the reach of our University brand, introducing TAMIU to new audiences, and reinforces the power of digital storytelling that connects us all,” Rojas said.
