TAMIU PR Gets Nine Awards in National Higher Ed EDM Competition

ATLANTA, GA -- Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Office of Public Relations, Marketing, and Information Services (PRMIS) was recently named a multiple award-winner in the 13th Annual Education Digital Marketing (EDM) Awards national competition.

TAMIU received nine awards in Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Merit divisions in categories including Digital Special Videos, Digital Video Ads, Microsites, and Social Media Content.  TAMIU was the top award winner among six Texas institutions recognized and the only campus of The Texas A&M University System awarded.

TAMIU’s PRMIS director Steve Harmon said the record number of awards helps affirm the TAMIU PR team’s prowess in and the importance of digital marketing.

“All these winning efforts across platforms share common bonds: strong creativity, a collaborative drive, keen innovation, and a love for all things TAMIU.   We’re storytellers and the University has a great story:  55 years of service, 55 degrees and more on the way, over 39,000 graduates worldwide, over 480 faculty members, over 9,000 students, and 28 campus facilities home to limitless futures. PRMIS is a remarkable team that drives the story of our University’s mission forward every day. We’re incredibly honored to have our entries judged so positively by national leaders in higher education marketing,” Harmon explained.

Leading the PRMIS team alongside Harmon are Mika Akikuni, associate director of marketing; Ana P. Clamont, creative director and brand manager; Alejandra Covarrubias, administrative associate IV; Michael Gutiérrez, coordinator of web initiatives; Joshua González, communications specialist I; José G. Hernández, III, communications specialist I; Christine Rojas,  manager, social media and communications; Rolando Santos, video and photographic coordinator; Ana Vargas, director of digital media; Marco E. Villarreal, publications and graphic design specialist and  Georgina Zamudio, graphic designer III.

The Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in digital marketing within the education sector. Over 1,000 colleges, universities, and secondary schools from across the nation submitted entries, which were evaluated by advertising creative directors, education marketers, and marketing and advertising professionals. Award winners excelled at using diverse digital channels, including websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media, and social media.
