TAMIU College of Nursing and Health Sciences Invites Nurses to Apply for Hybrid SANE Training Program

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) College of Nursing and Health Sciences is now accepting applications for the Advanced Nurse Education Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (TAMIU-SANE) Program.
This specialized hybrid training prepares nurses to deliver compassionate, evidence-based forensic care to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence while expanding access to critical services across South Texas and the border region.
“The program combines online learning, hands-on skills labs, and supervised clinical practice, allowing nurse participants to join a supportive community focused on trauma-informed, survivor-centered care and professional growth," said Dr. Robert Moran, Principal Investigator and Director of the TAMIU-SANE Program, "To help reduce barriers to participation, nurses have access to mental health support and financial assistance, which include travel and participant stipends."
Qualified applicants must hold a current, unencumbered Texas RN license (minimum of three years) and have at least two years of direct patient care experience. APRNs and RNs practicing in Emergency, OB-GYN, ICU, Pediatric, NICU, Labor & Delivery, PICU, and Surgical Services are encouraged to apply.
Participants begin by applying online and submitting the required documentation. They complete an online didactic course, progress to Basic SANE Training, and then advance to Advanced SANE training in acute care settings under the supervision of clinical preceptors. Upon completing both Basic and Advanced SANE training, applications are submitted to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for SANE certification, said Dr. Marivic Torregosa, Co-Principal Investigator.
With limited seats available, eligible nurses are encouraged to apply now. Interested nurses can learn more and apply online at https://www.tamiu.edu/conhs/sane/index.shtml.
