A new partnership between Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council is opening the door for young leaders to explore higher education and discover new possibilities.

Thanks to a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between TAMIU and the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council, collaborative opportunities will be explored to encourage proactive learning experiences.

The MOU, signed during the national commemoration of Girl Scout Week, underscores the University’s commitment to serving its regional community while fostering leadership among the next generation, explained Scheiby Gonzalez-Fisher, associate vice president for Enrollment Management.

“At TAMIU, we believe that strong communities are built through collaboration and education. Our partnership with the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council helps inspire curiosity, leadership, and a lifelong love of learning. Together, we are helping these girls see themselves as future scholars and leaders,” said Gonzalez-Fisher.

Among these initiatives are coordinating and hosting Girl Scout educational events on campus; developing and facilitating learning activities aligned with Girl Scout badge requirements; providing event logistics, space and registration support for events, and helping promote Girl Scout events through the University’s Office of Outreach and Pre-College Programs.

Additionally, the University and Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council will host a yearly, collaborative event. Through this agreement, the University will serve as the largest collaborative partner for the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council.
