TAMIU and Community Partners Unite Through “Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good”

Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Office of Student Affairs celebrated the continued growth of its community partnership initiative, Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good, during a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at the Student Center Ballroom.

Partnership TAMIU: An Alliance for Good is designed to strengthen relationships between the TAMIU and community organizations while creating meaningful opportunities for student engagement, volunteerism, experiential learning, workforce development, and community service.

The ceremony brought together University leadership and community organizations committed to expanding collaboration and making a positive impact throughout Laredo and the surrounding region.

“These partnerships provide invaluable opportunities for our students,” emphasized University President Dr. Christopher Maynard. “They enable Dustdevils to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in real-world settings. This experience prepares them to become engaged professionals and leaders in our community. Together, we are building stronger connections between our institutions and laying the foundation for a brighter future in Laredo and South Texas.”

This year’s ceremony reflected both the expansion and continuation of the initiative, with three organizations joining Partnership TAMIU as new partners and the remaining participating organizations renewing their MOAs with the University.

Signing partners included the City of Laredo, Communities In Schools of Laredo, Inc., Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas, Habitat for Humanity - Laredo Webb County, Imaginarium of South Texas, Laredo Chamber of Commerce, Laredo Cultural District, Laredo Immigrant Alliance, Laredo Regional Food Bank and Southwest Key Programs: Las Promesas de Laredo.

Through the initiative, the Office of Student Affairs works with participating organizations to strengthen connections between TAMIU students and the broader community while developing sustainable partnerships that support both student success and community needs, explained Priscilla A. Cadena, Office of Student Affairs program manager.

“The addition of new partners demonstrates the continued growth of Partnership TAMIU, while the renewal of existing agreements reflects the strength and longevity of relationships already established between the University and its community partners,” said Cadena.

She emphasized, “Together, these organizations represent areas including local government, education, youth development, housing, nonprofit services, culture, economic development, food security, and other sectors that contribute to the quality of life in Laredo and South Texas.”
