Trailblazer Weekly Bulletin

Good Afternoon Dustdevils,

Here’s today’s Trailblazer Weekly Bulletin for Monday, Oct. 27, 2025.

I am enormously proud of our TAMIU students, faculty and staff who joined us Saturday for our 16th Annual Make A Difference Day.  Some 450+ strong, this event provided community engagement and service that was exemplary and truly underscored how we Go Beyond.

Kudos to the University’s Office of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Student Government Association Leaders Organizing Volunteer Events Committee (L.O.V.E.), and community partners, the City of Laredo, Webb County, Keep Laredo Beautiful, H.E.B, Laredo Main Street, the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, Laredo College, and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.

I was also pleased to appear on the KGNS-TV News program “Beyond the Headlines” this Sunday to share my thoughts from my first steps on campus to what steps are just ahead.  My interview begins at mark 14:06 and I would be honored if you would watch.  Thanks KGNS!

This Week:

TAMIU’s Wicked Wellness Week 2025, is happening Oct. 27 – 31, and we’re inviting Dustdevils to step into a wonderland of self-care. We’ve got several events lined up including health and info fairs, a two-day blood drive, a mobile wellness unit, and so much more.  See Event Schedule in the Bulletin.

The Office of International Experiences is hosting a Dia De Los Muertos Altar in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center lobby Oct. 27 – 31. Students, faculty, and staff can place photos of loved ones on the Altar. For more, email international @tamiu.edu.

Rec Fee Referendum voting begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 28 through Thursday, Oct. 30.

The IBC Bank and Commerce Bank 2025-2026 Keynote Speaker Series is Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the TAMIU Student Center Ballroom and features Jason Marczak, an expert on U.S.-Latin American relations. His lecture is “A Turning Point in the U.S.–Latin America Relationship: What Might Be on the Horizon?” It’s free of charge and open to the public.

Halloween Fest returns Thursday, Oct. 30 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. on the ZSC Green. This popular event is free and open to the public. TAMIU’s SOLE and Campus Activities Board are offering a haunted house, games, food, fun, a pumpkin patch, and Halloween costume contest as well.

Please make your way to the CFPA for  “Bloom,” an exhibition of the colorful works of artist Carlos Rosales-Silva.  They are colorful and scaled to impress.

This broad array of activities, events, and initiatives across all TAMIU Colleges/Schools and Departments attests to the transformative University experience TAMIU offers all... be part of the experience!

Here’s to anticipating a great week ahead.

If you see me around campus, please introduce yourself. I’m always up for a selfie with @txamiuprez

Let’s Go Dustdevils!
