2018
Situation:
Mr. Lohmer was referred to Texas A & M International University Small Business Development (TAMIU SBDC) Center by TAMIU for assistance in getting his construction business certified as Historically Underutilized business (HUB), for State contracting.
SBDC Assistance Provided:
Mr. Lohmer met with Ms. Tina Rodriguez certified business advisor for assistance in certifying his business. After their initial meeting, Mr. Lohmer applied with Texas Department of Transportation for their Texas Unified Certification Program (TUCP). Ms. Rodriguez assisted Mr. & Mrs. Lohmer with their certification package. Within a few months client became Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE) and Small Business Enterprise (SBE). Their HUB certification is currently being process with the State Comptroller’s office of Public Accounts.
Solution/Impact of working with SBDC:
Client’s business is now DBE & SBE certified for State and some Federal contracting.
2019
SBDC Assistance Provided:
Mr. & Mrs. Ben Lohmer met with Ms. Tina Rodriguez certified business advisor for assistance with their HUB certification with Texas State Comptroller’s Office. The process took some time, in May of 2019 Lohmer Commercial Services LLC received their approval for HUB certification.
Solution/Impact of working with SBDC:
Client’s business is now HUB certified, this allows their company to continue to do business with State agencies, continue to invest into their business and retain their employees.
