Quality Matters Workshop Descriptions
Course Developer Training Sessions
Online course developers may benefit from the following training sessions:
Teaching Online-An Introduction to Online Delivery (TOL)
Note: This is a great starter workshop for instructors who have not taught online before.
The “Teaching Online - An Introduction to Online Delivery” workshop covers key parts of online course delivery. You will learn how online and face-to-face classes differ. You will also review the instructor's role, ways to keep students engaged, and tips for online discussions.
Designing Your Online Course (DYOC)
Note: This is a great workshop for learning a framework to develop a new online course.
The “Designing Your Online Course” workshop includes a brief overview of the QM Rubric. It also provides a framework for designing an online course plan. Participants explore all eight key standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment.
Applying the QM Rubric Workshop (APPQMR)
The “Applying the QM Rubric” workshop is QM’s main workshop on the QM Rubric and online course review. It is open to faculty, course designers, admins, and adjuncts who want to learn about the QM Rubric. They will also learn about the course review process.
Peer Reviewer Training Sessions
Potential peer reviewers must take the following training sessions:
Applying the QM Rubric Workshop (APPQMR)
(See above for description.)
APPQMR is the first step for the Peer Reviewer Course. The Peer Reviewer Course is needed to become a QM Peer Reviewer.
Peer Reviewer Course (PRC)
The "Peer Reviewer Course" helps skilled online faculty become Quality Matters Certified Peer Reviewers. The course reviews Quality Matters and offers practice with helpful feedback. It also includes a Practice Review with set standards, an online course, and a mock rubric tool. Plan to spend 8–10 hours each week on course tasks.
After this course, those who are eligible must submit an Application and Memo of Understanding. This step is needed to become a QM Certified Peer Reviewer. QM Certified Peer Reviewers may serve on QM-managed and Subscriber-managed course reviews.
To register for a QM workshop, you may send your requests to elearning@tamiu.edu.
