About the Partnership
The TAMIU-LBV Literacy Partnership is a community engagement initiative of Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), funded by the Lamar Bruni Vergara Charitable Trust.
Through a collaborative effort involving TAMIU, Laredo College, the LBV Trust, Laredo ISD, and United ISD, the Partnership has established a total of thirteen Literacy Centers across eleven elementary schools. The initiative is dedicated to promoting grade-level reading proficiency in the early elementary years.
By supporting state and local teaching strategies, the program helps partner schools close achievement gaps in literacy. Since its launch in 2015, the Partnership has served thousands of struggling young readers - many of whom were generally 1.5 or 2 years behind their peers in literacy development.
