Graduate Financial Assistance
Funding Opportunities at TAMIU
Graduate Financial Assistance - Available for students pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree.
Submit a completed Graduate Financial Assistance Application and meet all eligibility requirements by April 1st. Application is available online.
Assistantship - Awards $15,000 per academic year for a 9-month term (part-time work/20 hours per week).
Assistantship Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a fully admitted graduate student who is working towards a master's or doctoral degree.
- Must maintain a good academic standing with a minimum overall GPA of 3.250.
- Must enroll in 9 graduate hours each Fall and Spring semester.
Fellowship - Awards up to $6,000 per academic year for 10 hours of part-time work per week.
($2,000 per semester; Fall, Spring or Summer)
Scholarship - Awards up to $3,000 per academic year
($1,000 per semester; Fall, Spring or Summer)
Fellowship and Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a fully admitted graduate student who is working towards a master's or doctoral degree.
- Must maintain a good academic standing with a minimum overall GPA of 3.500.
- Must enroll in 6 graduate hours each Fall and Spring semester.
Lamar Bruni Vergara External Scholarship - is available to TAMIU alumni who are Webb County residents and who are pursuing a graduate or professional degree that TAMIU does not offer.
LBV External Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
- Must submit a complete Graduate Financial Assistance application and meet all eligibility requirement by April 1st.
- Must submit a letter of acceptance into a graduate or professional degree program.
- Must submit a copy of unofficial transcripts including academic standing and cumulative GPA.

Aldo Tantagelo Scholarship - Available for graduate students pursuing a degree in Public Administration. Application is available online.
Business Fellowship - The A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business is making available Fellowship grants to qualified students pursuing a Master’s degree from the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business: Master of Business Administration (MBA); Master of Science-Information Systems (MS-IS); and Masters of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc). The duration of each Fellowship is for one consecutive year.

Dr. Jerry Thompson Graduate Student Travel Fund - Available for students who are enrolled in the Master of Arts in History and Political Thought program at TAMIU. Funding can only be used for research related travel expenses. Amount varies by student's travel needs. Application is available online.
Graduate Student Travel Reimbursement - Available for students who have actively participated in a conference/meeting for professional development related to their academic pursuits at TAMIU. Must submit a complete Student Travel Form through TAMIU Trailblazers and meet all University travel requirements before traveling.
Henry Cuellar Scholarship - Available for graduate students pursuing a degree in History and Political Thought. Application is available online.
MPA Alumni Association Scholarship - Available for graduate students pursuing a degree in Public Administration. Application is available online.
