Coronavirus (COVID-19) Hours, Services, and Access
To ensure the health and safety of the TAMIU community, including our staff, the following restrictions are in place, and subject to change, until further notice.
Effective Monday, April 13, 2020 until further notice
Monday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Physical access to the library will be limited to the first-floor Circulation Desk. All other library services will remain available virtually and online.
Study rooms are not being lent at this time.
Computer Labs & Printing
Computer labs and printers in the library will be inaccessible, but students continue to have access to OIT-supervised computer labs in Cowart Hall.
Cowart Hall Labs are open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
In order to protect both patrons and library staff, we are discontinuing self-service and browsing of library materials. If you need a physical item from the General Collection, please email email@example.com with the title, author, and call number of each item.
If available, the item will be pulled for you, and you will be notified when it is ready for pick up at the Circulation Desk. Items will be held for 3 days from notification of availability.
In order to pick up items, please visit the Circulation Desk on the first floor (with your mask on, as required), during posted hours. CDC guidelines for social distancing will be observed.
If the items are not picked up, they will be returned to the shelf.
There is a 5-item limit, per person, at this time.
Please return your items to the outside book drop located at the east end of the building, closest to Bullock Hall.
How to find an item's title, author, and call number:
Interlibrary loan (ILL) requests can still be made at this time; however, we make no guarantee that requests for physical items will be fulfilled. (Library closures at other institutions around the country may prevent the availability of items.) If we are successful in obtaining your request, you will be notified when it is available for pickup. Electronic requests for articles and book chapters can still be made, and fulfilled. If you have additional questions please contact Malynda Dalton, Access Services Librarian, by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
In order to protect all students, we are scanning specific chapters of reserve items by request, at this time.
To request specific chapters, please email email@example.com, with the title of the book, the name of professor, and the course number.
Due Dates, Fines, and Library Holds
At this time, the library is extending the due date for currently borrowed items to August 21, 2020. If you receive a system notification for library items, please contact the Circulation Desk at (956) 326-2112 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Circulation staff will extend your item loan period.
Items checked out after May 11, 2020, will be due August 21, 2020.
At this time, the library is not charging late fines accrued after March 8, 2020. Any overdue fines billed on these items will be waived.
If you have an administrative library hold on Uconnect, please contact the Circulation Desk. Circulation staff is on hand to assist you.
Due dates for interlibrary loan items can be extended. Please contact the Interlibrary Loan Office at (956) 326-2078 or email@example.com, if you have questions or are receiving system notifications for borrowed items.
