The universe of scholarships available to Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students is now in the palm of their hand.  With a smartphone, students can now access thousands of relevant scholarships through “TAMIU Fund$Finder,” a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus.

TAMIU Fund$Finder, which launches this week, takes students out of the dark and into the light with an easy, fast, and mobile tool, said TAMIU director of Financial Aid, Laura Elizondo.

“In my 24 years of working in student financial aid, I believe this represents a quantum shift in student scholarship access,” Elizondo said, “All financial aid offices are focused on matching as many eligible students with university and external scholarship opportunities as possible. In the past, that might have meant applying for dozens of scholarships, hoping you might match.  That model doesn’t work for today’s students.  Time is precious and an exhaustive process can be fatiguing too.

“With our online TAMIU Fund$Finder, students are adaptively matched to the scholarships they qualify for.  They can access thousands of relevant scholarships from their phone or desktop.  They can even get mobile alerts when new scholarship opportunities are available.  Of special interest is that students can also be matched to external vetted scholarships, opening up brand new opportunities,” Elizondo explained.

To begin, students need only visit go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder and follow three easy steps:

Step 1: Log in using Uconnect credentials

Step 2: Answer matching questions

Step 3: View individualized matches and apply

Elizondo said in addition to its obvious benefit for students, TAMIU Fund$Finder is also beneficial to the University.

“With TAMIU Fund$Finder our scholarship management is streamlined, and so more awards can be given more efficiently. Since TAMIU Fund$Finder intuitively matches students to institutional and verified external scholarship opportunities, financial aid staff will spend less time doing this work manually, and be able to devote additional time to advising and helping students achieve financial success,” she noted.

Elizondo said the TAMIU Fund$Finder has performed well with focus and test groups.

“Students quickly understood the tool and put it to use immediately. With so much uncertainty in our world these days, it’s great to know that this provides a strong, vetted tool that really helps our students to make sure that they are able to earn their degree, and graduate with as little debt as possible,” she concluded.

TAMIU Fund$Finder is powered by Campus Logic, a higher education leader in technology that helps colleges and universities remove barriers in the financial aid process through a suite of student financial aid success products.
