TAMIU Ends Welcome Week with Music Festival CABchella, Fireworks Show

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) annual Welcome Week festivities culminated during CABchella, an evening-long music celebration, Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, from 6 - 11 p.m. at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center Green.

The night's festivities ended with a fireworks show, lighting the campus sky and serving as the official end of Welcome Week, a series of scheduled activities welcoming students to TAMIU.

CABchella was free and open to currently enrolled students.

The event included performances by Gardens Gate, Japanese Dream, LOUIEJAYXX and Synthia Music.

Free food was offered to currently enrolled students by food trucks from 550 Pizzeria, Bubble Waffle, Gorilla Smoke and Grill, and Taquitos Las Minas. Inflatables were also set  up.

Welcome Week offered a series of scheduled activities organized by TAMIU's Division of Student Engagement.

Events began the first day of the Fall semester, Monday, Aug. 25, and continued through Friday, Aug. 29. All events were free and open to currently enrolled University students.

Festivities continue during Involvement Week, happening Sept. 1 - 6, where students can learn more about getting involved in student organizations, Greek life and more.

Welcome Week festivities are organized through the University's Division of Student Engagement, with participation from the Office of Student Orientation, Leadership and Engagement, Campus Activities Board, the Student Government Association, Greek Council, and Hospitality Services. Support is also offered by University offices including Career Services, Compliance, Counseling Services, Disability Services, International Experiences, and Student Affairs.
