Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has been recognized among TIME’s America’s Best Colleges of 2026–2027, ranking as the No. 3 public institution in Texas.

Among public institutions in Texas, only the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University placed higher than TAMIU. Nationally, among the 500 colleges and universities included in the ranking, TAMIU ranked as the No. 91 public institution. When including private institutions, TAMIU ranked No. 8 in Texas and No. 231 nationally.

The ranking, developed by TIME in partnership with Statista, emphasizes each college’s value-added contribution. It specifically measures outcomes such as graduate earnings and completion rates relative to what would be expected based on student intake.

According to TIME, the ranking draws on objective federal datasets, including IPEDS and College Scorecard, and evaluates institutions across three core pillars: Student Outcomes, Learning Environment and Attractiveness.

TAMIU President Dr. Christopher Maynard said the recognition reflects the University’s commitment to student success and providing students with a high-quality education.

“We are proud to see Texas A&M International University recognized by TIME as the No. 3 public institution in Texas,” Maynard said, “This recognition reflects our continuing commitment to provide students with a world-class educational experience that will transform their lives, the trajectory of their entire family and the future of South Texas and beyond.”

TAMIU’s recognition in TIME’s inaugural ranking adds to the university’s record of national recognition for affordability, value and student success.

“This ranking is especially meaningful because of the focus on student outcomes and return on investment,” Maynard said, “When people question the value of higher education, they should take a look at what is happening in South Texas. TAMIU students are ambitious, and this ranking is a reflection of the learning environment we create for our students that allows them to earn their degrees, launch their careers and contribute to their communities.”

TIME’s America’s Best Colleges of 2026-2027 is its inaugural national college ranking. The complete ranking is available through TIME.

Texas A&M International University is a proud member of The Texas A&M University System. With an enrollment of more than 9,200 students, TAMIU provides a world-class educational experience to students from throughout South Texas, Northern Mexico, and beyond.
