TAMIU CAMP

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) supports students who are, were, or have parents who are or were migratory or seasonal farmworkers, helping them succeed during their first year of undergraduate studies at TAMIU.

Welcome to our program! As the director, I am truly honored to collaborate with the migratory community to support tomorrow’s leaders during their college journey.

Our promise to CAMP students is that we will work with you through your unique challenges and offer you academic and moral support, mentorship, and personal development opportunities to help you achieve your goals.

Together, we can build a strong community that will enrich your experience and support you with each milestone you reach. I encourage you to take advantage of our resources and connect with your peers and mentors. I look forward to getting to know each of you better!

The student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident per U.S. Department of Education requirements.

Additionally, TAMIU CAMP will accept a Migrant or Seasonal Farm Worker who meets one (1) of the following options:

  • Currently or formerly participated in the K-12 Migrant Education Program (MEP)
  • Has participated in the National Farmworker Job Program (NFJP)
  • You, your parent or guardian, or an *immediate family member must have worked a minimum of 75 days within the past two years in agriculture-related work or the student must have been part of the migrant education program.
This farm work includes work performed for either wages or personal subsistence on a farm, ranch or similar establishment.
Migrant or seasonal farm work includes: any activity directly related to the production of crops, dairy products, poultry, or livestock; the cultivation or harvesting of trees, including nursery and forestry work; or fish farm work.

Remember, if you meet at least one (1) of the requirements above, you qualify!

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) serves the higher education needs of migratory students at Texas A&M International University. CAMP will support students’ desire to achieve a college education. CAMP is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and adheres to the federal definitions for migrant and seasonal farm work. To qualify for CAMP, students must meet the admission requirements for Texas A&M International University, be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident.

Often the first generation in their family to attend college, CAMP students are welcomed to the University by a supportive team dedicated to helping them succeed. Working collaboratively with academic support services across the University, students receive continuous and responsive support. In addition, opportunities for cultural enrichment and community service will be provided.
