First-Year Experience Symposium
The First-Year Experience Symposium provides an opportunity for students enrolled in UNIV 1302 to showcase their community projects as part of their Signature Course. Students' work is judged by TAMIU Faculty, Staff, and Laredo Community Members.
Spring 2024 is scheduled on April 16-17, 2024!
Guidelines for Students
Each class will have the opportunity to present their research and community engagement project through a roundtable discussion. Your performance will be judged by TAMIU faculty and staff as well as members of the Laredo community using a standardized rubric. Your time for the presentation and other details will be provided to you in class by your professor*.

University College is excited to invite TAMIU Faculty and Staff and Laredo Community Partners as a judge for our Annual First-Year Experience Symposium. Your wealth of experience and expertise will significantly contribute to selecting the best roundtable presentations.
This is an important milestone for our first-year students’ academic and professional journey. Students will be presenting roundtable discussions in groups of 3-5 allowing them to showcase their knowledge, skills, dispositions, and creativity in applying problem-based learning in UNIV 1302 Signature courses. As a judge, you will be asked to assess a selected group of projects using an approved rubric.
As a token of our appreciation, you will be receiving a meal voucher, an e-certificate of recognition for your contribution.
