Texas A&M International University Office of Instructional Technology and Distance Education Services is committed to recognizing faculty who have excelled in integrating technology within their courses. The Distance Education and Instructional Technology Committee (DEITC) is instrumental in the selection of the Instructional Technology Excellence Award and Technology Spotlight recognitions.

Instructional Technology Excellence Award
The Instructional Technology Excellence Award (formerly the Distance Educator of the Year Award) is presented to a faculty member who has exemplified the use of technology in their teaching. The award recipient is chosen from a group of nominees by the DEITC using the following criteria:
- Integrates the use of technology in the teaching and learning process
- Use of technology in creative and effective ways to facilitate student learning
- Implements student-focused, learning-oriented innovations, and/or project-based learning activities using technology
- Inspires and works collaboratively with others
- Addresses the various types of learners including those with disabilities
- Seamlessly integrates TAMIU’s Learning Management System (LMS) to support his/her teaching to actively engage students
- Actively pursues avenues for personal continuous improvement to facilitate the uses of technology
