The Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022 priority deadline is nearing for first-time freshmen admitted to Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) to be considered for an expanded world of Automatic Freshman Scholarship Program opportunities.

Students meeting criteria can receive four-year automatic scholarships ranging from $16,000 to $32,000.  The non-transferable awards apply to Fall 2022-Spring 2023 tuition and fees at TAMIU, said TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz.

“With this expanded opportunity, we can ramp up our commitment to providing a broad range of students and their families the scholarship support they have earned to help secure their higher education dreams. For over 50 years, TAMIU’s mission has been laser-focused on making higher education accessible, affordable, and excellent. I am certain students and their families will be excited by this opportunity and the security the scholarships can provide in helping them finance their University degree,” Dr. Arenaz said.

Arenaz noted the expanded Automatic Freshman Scholarship Program has already enabled the University to include an additional 100 students in its first round of scholarship offers. He observed that students need only fulfill one of the requirements in four set scholarship award categories.  The requirements are driven by one of the following: 1) high school ranking 2) SAT Scores or 3) ACT Scores.

“For example, students seeking the four-year Discovery Award, valued at $16,000, could be considered with their high school Top 8-10% ranking, their 1080+ SAT score, or their 22+ ACT score.

Those seeking the four-year Presidential Award, valued at $32,000, could be considered with a high school ranking in the Top 1-2%, an SAT of 1360+, or an ACT of 29+,” he explained.

News of the Automatic Freshman Scholarship Program’s expanded opportunities for students was recently shared with local and area counselors, and was well-received, with students already sharing enthusiastic interest with the University.

“The Automatic Freshman Scholarship Program provides a truly remarkable opportunity for students to secure a University degree that recognizes their dedication, their abilities, and their promise of a bright future. Our faculty, administration, and staff are honored to share in their journey,” Dr. Arenaz said.
