TAMIU Holds Historic Spring Graduation Ceremonies at Sames Auto Arena

The largest Spring graduating class in Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) history, numbering over 950 candidates for graduation, will cross the stage at Spring 2025 Commencement Exercises at the Sames Auto Arena Thursday, May 15.
The first ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. for candidates for graduation for undergraduate and graduate degrees from the A. R. Sanchez, Jr., School of Business, College of Education, and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
The second ceremony at 4 p.m. will include candidates for graduation for undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College of Arts & Sciences and University College.
Commencement Speaker for both ceremonies will be Morgan LaMantia, Chairman of the STARS Scholarship Fund.
A South Texas native, LaMantia is part of the next generation of leadership in the family business, L&F Distributors. She works in community relations and government affairs for L&F, carrying on the legacy of her grandfather, building opportunities through hard work and giving back to the community.
LaMantia previously served in the Texas State Senate representing Senate District 27 from 2023 - 2025. She is an active community volunteer, serving as Chairman of the STARS Scholarship Fund where 100% of the funds go to local students, serving on the Board of Directors of nonprofits, including AltaCair, and the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Board.
LaMantia earned her business degree from The University of Texas at Austin and is a graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law.
Student Responses will be provided by Camila Alejandra Treviño, representing the College of Arts and Sciences at the 11 a.m. Ceremony, and Jorge E. Maldonado, III, representing the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business at the 4 p.m. Ceremony.
Treviño, the daughter of Virginia and Ricardo Treviño, graduated from United High School in May 2022. A first-generation student, she will earn a Bachelor's Degree in English with a concentration in Secondary Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.84 GPA.
Maldonado is the son of Jorge and Nadia Maldonado. He graduated from United High School in 2021. He will earn a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, and a Certificate in Banking and Financial Institutions, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.856 GPA.
The Spring 2025 graduating class is the largest in the University’s nearly 55-year history and includes representatives from 15 distinct countries.
