Manage your TAMIU Account

Learn how to manage your TAMIU account effectively.

Your UIN

The Universal Identification Number, or UIN, is your employee number assigned by the Texas A&M University System through the Department of Human Resources and follows the format 123-00-1234. When contacting the Help Desk at the Office of Information Technology, you will be asked to provide your UIN for identity verification, such as when resetting a password.

Your NetID

The NetID is your username for many TAMIU online services, including your email, Uconnect, UPrint, Wi-Fi, elearning.tamiu.edu, and more. It is used to log into your assigned or any public computer on campus.

It forms part of your email address in the format netid@tamiu.edu.

Your Email

All TAMIU employees have an email account assigned to them, which can be accessed by visiting dusty.tamiu.edu. Your email address is your netid@tamiu.edu.

If your department requires the use of a shared mailbox, it can be added on with the assistance of OIT to your Microsoft Outlook desktop application. However, from time to time, you may need to access a shared mailbox from the Outlook Web App. In this instance, once you are logged in, click on your name in the upper-right corner, type in the address of the shared mailbox, and click "Open..."

Two-factor Authentication (Duo)

Add an extra level of security to your NetID account. Verifying your identity using a second factor (like your phone or other mobile device) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password. Visit the Two-factor authentication page for more information.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) with Duo

To request VPN access, please fill out the VPN Access Form (Laserfiche).

TAMIU Self-Service

From time to time, it is possible to either forget a password or get locked out of your account. To remedy this, please use the TAMIU SelfService, where enrollment is required. Please use your TAMIU NetID and password.

How do I Enroll in TAMIU Self-Service?

  1. Go to selfservice.tamiu.edu.
  2. Under the "Log In" tab, enter your NetID username, password, and Captcha.
  3. Click "Login" to proceed to the next page.
  4. Click on the "Enrollment" tab.
  5. Add your secondary email address and phone number that is not associated with your login information.
  6. Sign out at the top left corner, if done.
  • Please contact the OIT Help Desk if you receive the following error message:
    "Your account has been restricted. Please contact the administrator."

Change Your Password?

  1. Go to selfservice.tamiu.edu.
  2. Under the "Log In" tab, enter your NetID username, password, and Captcha.
  3. Click on the "Change Password" tab.
  4. Follow the on-board instructions.

Forgot Your Password?

  • Please ensure that you are enrolled in TAMIU Self-Service. Please contact the OIT Help Desk if you are unable to enroll with TAMIU SelfService.
  1. Go to selfservice.tamiu.edu.
  2. Under the "Forgot your password?" tab, enter your NetID and Captcha.
  3. Click "Login" to proceed to the next page.
  4. Enter your secondary email address or phone number you enrolled with.
  5. Click "Continue" to receive a verification code.
  6. Enter the verification code.
  7. Click "Continue" to proceed to the next page.
  8. Enter a new password and confirm it in the dialog boxes. Please ensure that you follow the guidelines for entering a new password.
  9. Click "Reset Password" to create your new password.

Your Account Locked Out?

  • Please ensure that you are enrolled in TAMIU Self-Service. Please contact the OIT Help Desk if you are unable to enroll with TAMIU SelfService.
  1. Go to selfservice.tamiu.edu.
  2. Under the "Account locked out?" tab, enter your NetID and Captcha.
  3. Click "Continue" to proceed to the next page.
  4. Enter your secondary email address or phone number you enrolled with.
  5. Click "Continue" to receive a verification code.
  6. Enter the verification code.
  7. Click "Continue" to proceed to the next page.
  8. Click "Unlock account" to unlock your account.
