TAMIU Virtual Desktop
If you are a current TAMIU student and are unable to travel to the university to access a computer for specialized programs, you can use the university's virtual desktop, VMware Horizon. It is designed to connect your desktop to specific university applications.
You can install the VMware Horizon Client (desktop application) or use the VMware Horizon HTML Access (browser version).
Download the Client
- Browse to uvirtualdesktop.tamiu.edu.
- Click on "Install VMware Horizon Client" (center left option), and you will be redirected to the Omnissa Horizon Client webpage.
- Find and click on "Go to Downloads" for your device (e.g., Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chrome).
- Click on the "Download Now" button. A download should start.



Installation
- Open the file once the download is complete.
- The Terms and Agreement page will open.
- Click on "Agree and Install" to proceed with the installation.
- Click "Finish" and "Restart Now" to complete the installation process.
- Make sure to save any uncompleted files before restarting.
- Once the computer has restarted, the Omnissa Horizon Client icon should appear on your desktop.

- Go to uvirtualdesktop.tamiu.edu.
- Click on "VMware Horizon HTML Access" (center right option), and you will be redirected to the login screen.
- Enter your NetID and password.
- Click on "Login" to enter the client.
- Select "Virtual PC" to use the client, click the "Ok" button, and the virtual desktop will load.
