  1. Scholarship Opportunity
  • Aldo Tatangelo Endowed Scholarship in Public Administration and Political Science is restricted to TAMIU graduate students in public administration or political science in good standing who are planning to develop a career in public policy or government. Eligibility criteria include 3.3 GPA or higher, two letters of recommendation from faculty, Webb County, Laredo, or Nuevo Laredo residency, and a completed application form. Three [3] scholarships of $1000.00 each will be awarded during the 2019-2020 academic year. Scholarship money will be used to cover the costs of tuition, books, and fees. Recipients will be named Tatangelo Scholars.

 

  • Henry Cuellar Endowed Scholarship in Political Science is restricted to TAMIU graduate students majoring and undergraduate juniors/seniors in political science or public administration in good standing who are planning to develop a career in public policy or government. Eligibility criteria include 3.0 GPA or higher, paid internship opportunity, and a completed application form. Three scholarships [3] of $1000.00 each will be awarded during 2019-2020 academic year. Scholarship money will be used to cover the costs of tuition, books, and fees. Recipients will be named Cuellar Scholars.

 

  • MPA Scholarship is restricted to students currently enrolled in the TAMIU MPA program who are planning to develop a long-term career in local, state, or federal government or in civil society organization. Eligibility criteria include 3.5 GPA or higher, membership of Public Administration Students Association, membership of the American Society for Public Administration, and a 1-page, double-line spaced written statement explaining how the MPA degree will contribute to the achievement of their public service career goal. Two scholarships [2] of $500.00 each will be awarded during 2019-2020 academic year. Scholarship money will be used for tuition, books, and fees. Recipients will be named Public Administration Young Scholars.  

 

 III. Application Process

All scholarship applications must be submitted to Dr. Haruna at Canseco Hall 313J.  Only one application per scholarship per applicant will be accepted. The deadline for the 2019-2020 scholarships application cycle is April 5, 2o19. Applications received within the deadline will receive preliminary screening to assure compliance with stipulated requirements. Scholarship award recipients will be notified by May 20, 2019.
