The ACE Student Mentor Program at TAMIU supports the First-Year Experience by guiding incoming students through a successful transition to university life. Our experienced upper-class mentors foster student growth by helping new students acclimate to campus, build academic and personal skills, and connect with essential resources in a supportive environment.
Students meet with mentors throughout their UNIV 1201 and UNIV 1302 courses. Each session focuses on a specific topic designed to support first-year students as they progress through their college journey. A total of six mentoring sessions is required for all students to complete for each semester. Attendance and active participation in these sessions account for 15% of the overall UNIV course grade.
For more information about the Student Mentor Program, please contact our Mentor Program Specialist Celeste Franco at 956.326.3380 or via email at celeste.franco@tamiu.edu
