Student Mentors

The ACE Student Mentor Program at TAMIU supports the First-Year Experience by guiding incoming students through a successful transition to university life. Our experienced upper-class mentors foster student growth by helping new students acclimate to campus, build academic and personal skills, and connect with essential resources in a supportive environment.

Students meet with mentors throughout their FYE 1201 and FYE 1302 courses. Each session focuses on a specific topic designed to support first-year students as they progress through their college journey. Mentoring sessions are required for all students to complete for each semester. Attendance and active participation in these sessions account for 15% of the overall FYE course grade.

For more information about the Student Mentor Program, please contact our Mentor Program Specialist Celeste Franco at 956.326.3380 or via email at celeste.franco@tamiu.edu
