Fulbright Program

TAMIU Icon

The Fulbright Program is an international academic exchange program that began in 1946 with an ambitious goal — to help people from the United States and other countries better understand each other and build friendships that promote peace. Today, the U.S. government works with over 160 countries to offer a wide range of fellowships and scholarships for study, research, and teaching around the world.

Texas A&M International University is proud to champion the Fulbright Program—one of the world’s most prestigious academic exchange initiatives. Through the Office of Global & Community Engagement, the University offers a variety of services and resources to assist faculty, staff, and students in pursuing a Fulbright Award or hosting a Fulbright Scholar within their department.

Considering a Fulbright Experience: the “Five A’s”

Embarking on a Fulbright journey requires thoughtful preparation and alignment with both personal and institutional goals. As you explore this opportunity, consider the following:

  • Awareness – Develop a strong understanding of the Fulbright Program, its mission, and the diverse opportunities it offers.

  • Articulation – Clearly define and communicate your research or project agenda and its potential impact.

  • Alignment – Ensure your proposed project aligns with Texas A&M International University’s academic priorities and areas of excellence.

  • Achievement – Reflect on what it takes to become a competitive candidate, including preparation, planning, and commitment.

  • Advancement – Consider how this experience will enhance your academic career, professional growth, and contributions to your discipline.

Incoming Scholars

Through the Office of Global & Community Engagement (GCE), Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) proudly supports incoming international scholars and researchers participating in programs such as Fulbright, Erasmus+, and other global exchange initiatives.

The GCE Office assists with the internal process required to be hosted by TAMIU, ensuring all university procedures and documentation are completed smoothly. Our team is here to guide departments and scholars through each step of the process, from initial coordination to arrival on campus.

Whether you are joining TAMIU as a Fulbright Scholar or through another international program, we are here to help. While your sponsoring organization (such as IIE for Fulbright) may address many of your program-specific questions, the Office of Global & Community Engagement will support you in navigating university procedures, providing orientation assistance, and connecting you with campus resources.
